Sometimes the thing you're searching for leaves traces everywhere, and you only notice once you stop looking so hard.
We spent three nights hiding in the dunes on the Otago Peninsula, waiting for penguins to come ashore. We knew exactly where they nested. We never saw a single one.
What we did find were their footprints, wandering the sand in that particular way that made us start calling it "dibble dabble."
“Hidden in Plain Sight” started there. The feeling of looking so hard for something that you almost miss what it's leaving behind.
What if the thing you've been looking for has been there all along?
Acrylic and wax pastel on cradled canvas, 40 × 30 inches
Shipped flat. Unframed.
