Frequently Asked Questions
-
What mediums do you work in?
I work mainly in water-based mediums; acrylic paint, inks and graphite. Sometimes collage appears in my paintings. I paint on both gallery-wrapped canvas and cradled birch panels (although will confess that the latter are my favourites). You can find details about each painting listed alongside its photo in my Portfolio.
I seal and either varnish or apply a cold wax finish to each piece. These practices help to preserve colour and texture for years to come.

Will my painting look exactly like the photo?
Every care has been taken to show the artwork as accurately as possible with regard to size and colour. The image you see online may show a difference due to slight variation between browsers, devices and screen settings. Any variation between the image represented and the actual artwork is not deemed a fault and such inconsistencies will not be a valid reason for return.

My favourite piece has sold - how can I be sure to hear about new work?
Some pieces sell very quickly. Make sure you join my mailing list to find out about new work before it is added to my website. As I try not to bombard you with emails, you can also follow studio progress on Instagram to see work coming up.
Feel free to DM me on social media if you see something you like and don’t want to wait for me to list it. -
Are your paintings framed?
Sometimes.
When finishing a painting, one of the many decisions I make is whether it might be enhanced with the addition of a simple, contemporary tray frame. My goal is always to elevate the work and show it in its very best light.
I always indicate whether a painting is framed or not in my written description of the work. You’ll also be able to see photos of it framed and unframed in the product gallery. When a painting is meant to be sold framed, the frame is already included in the price.
If you’re interested in having an un-framed painting framed, please contact me to chat. Together we can decide on framing, whether that means I do the framing for you or simply give you advice on how to have it framed locally, after purchase.
-
Will my paintings arrive ready to hang?
All paintings on canvas and birch panel are shipped wired and ready to hang. You can have fun deciding where!
Matted paper and loose canvas pieces are not wired, as you’ll need to have them framed first. -
How do I purchase a painting?
Unlike the Gap, I prefer to have conversations with collectors of my work before they finalize a purchase.
If you see a piece you’d like to purchase, simply click the ‘contact’ button and let me know.
I’ll respond as quickly as I can and we’ll discuss mode of payment and arrange for shipping. I accept credit card payments through Stripe and e-transfer from Canadian collectors. -
Is shipping included in the price?
Shipping is always extra and will be calculated based on where you live, how large the piece is and how quickly you want it delivered.
If you live nearby, I’m happy to have you pop by the studio and collect your painting in person, free of charge!
Note that some countries apply import tax to original art. These are fees that may be levied on you upon delivery. Please make yourself aware of your country’s import fees; I cannot be responsible for any surprises once the work has shipped.
-
How will my painting be wrapped?
It depends on size, but paintings will be carefully packed using corner protection, bubble wrap and cardboard.
Each one is unique so I take care that it is well packaged and that it arrives in perfect condition.
If you have more questions about shipping and packaging, I’m happy to discuss them with you before you finalize your purchase.
-
What if my painting arrives and I don't like it?
Because we’ve taken the time to chat before you’ve purchased the work, this is very unlikely to happen.
However, I want you to be fully content with your new artwork so I offer a Buy-Back agreement.
If a painting is not as you expect, you have 7 days to contact me by email and request a refund. Once a return has been agreed, you are responsible for packing and arranging return delivery using the same service it was sent to you. Return shipping costs are at your expense. Once the piece has been safely returned I will refund your payment within 7 days.
